March 2025

In March, we celebrated World Book Day, where we took part in a variety of book & reading related activities. We also had a dress-up day where the girls dressed as their favourite book characters – everyone looked super! We also designed new book covers for our favourite books. It was also Seachtain na Gaeilge & we had a great week promoting speaking as Gaeilge ar scoil. The girls put in a super effort with this & there were lots of spot prizes given out to acknowledge their efforts. We also took part in biongó & our maidin caife sa halla, as well as our Céilí Mór le Carmel too.

In maths, we have been working on 3D shapes & their properties, investigating which shapes will roll vs stack, we carried out experiments to solve this. We have also continued working on our tens & units chapters with our dienes blocks & concrete materials & we explored data & made our own favourite fruit pictogram as a class. We also explored a new maths lesson to promote our maths talk & problem-solving skills in maths – using iZak9 cubes. This was a very different & enjoyable maths lesson which the class were really engaged in.

We also worked on positional language through the Beebots app on the tablets. The girls had great fun coding & planning routes using their directions – although tricky at first they mastered this after a few practices!
