The Active School Committee was very pleased with our busy Active School week, which took place from Monday 30th April to Friday 4th May.
Lots of people helped to make it a success. Many thanks to Carol Byrne and Dawn Dempsey who did football training with most of the students in the school over two days, to Mary McCrann and Evelyn Fitzgerald for tennis coaching, to Gráinne of Leinster Rugby who organised tag-rugby blitz for fifth and sixth class, to Cheryl Corrigan for her Ballet class and to Olive Conroy who provided an afternoon of outdoor and teamwork skills for senior classes. We also appreciate the support from John Doran of Kildare Sports Partnership who provided some classes with energetic fundamental movement workshops. A huge thank you must go to the fantastic Transition Year students from Árd Scoil Rath Iomagháin who proved to be super instructors and wonderful role models for our girls. Also to many of our own senior students who volunteered to instruct younger children in a new dance or athletic skill. Last but not least, the committee want to thank the Mary, Ann, Catríona and all the teachers who put in an amazing amount of work to keep all the balls in the air last week. We all had a lot of fun.
We would not have had such a wonderfully active and enjoyable Active Schools Week were it not for the fabulous organisation, dedication and hard-work put in by Ms. Fogarty, Ms. Ryan and their excellent Active Schools Committee. Well done everyone! Let's keep the activity going!
