Fortnightly Bulletin 7th February 2019

Dear Parents / Guardians,

We hope all is well with you this fortnight. Our news is as follows:

  • Credit Union Quiz: The Credit Union Quiz took place in the Boys School on Friday night, 1st February.  All of the teams representing our school did very well and enjoyed the evening.  Mischa Conroy, Maura Ennis, Eimear Healy and Michaela Mullen came 3rd in the U/13 Section.  Emily Conlan, Abbey Feeney, Amy Jones and Aoibheann Mahon came 2nd in the U/11 Section. We are very proud of the 22 teams who participated in the quiz.  They displayed great cooperation and teamwork.

  • Grandparents Day: On January 30th  we celebrated Grandparents’ Day at Bunscoil Bhríde.   As usual it was a very enjoyable day.  Pupils and teachers love to welcome grandparents into their classrooms.  We would like to thank all the grandparents for taking the time to visit and share their stories with us.  I would like to thank our Parents Association  for organising the reception in the hall for our visitors.  Thank you to  all the families who baked and sent in treats for the occasion.  A special word of praise for members of the Student Council who did a super job welcoming our guests and guiding them around the school.

  • Basketball: Last Tuesday the 29th of January, the 6th Class basketball team made history as they won the Cumann na mBunscol final, a first for Bunscoil Bhríde. The team played Scoil Uí Ríada, Kilcock, in Scoil na Naomh Uilig, Newbridge, at 11.40am. The match was very intense and exciting with excellent offensive and defensive displays from both sides. The score was level at full time with both teams on a score of 3-3. Megan Feeney scored one point from a free shot and Megan MacTigue scored 2 points from free shots, an amazing achievement under such pressure! 3 minutes of extra time were added and during this time Kate Byrne went on to score the winning basket with the final score being 5-3 to us. The team were presented with the cup and arrived back to Bunscoil Bhríde to be greeted by the entire school. Well done to all 20 girls who trained so hard all year and showed great leadership, determination and work ethic.
